Saldaña Wonchee

Georgina Saldaña Wonchee is a Mexican actress and singer whose artistic career bridges theater and music through a body of work deeply connected to the exploration of memory, identity, and feminine sensibility on stage.

She studied acting at the Atlantic Acting School in New York and co-founded the theater company Espejo Escénico in Oaxaca, a collective dedicated to collaborative creation and theatrical research from a contemporary and poetic perspective.

Since 2025, she has been a member of Village Playback Theatre in New York, participating in theatrical improvisation and performance practices centered on community dialogue, collective memory, and the transformation of real-life stories into live performance.

As a performer, she has participated in theatrical, musical, and multidisciplinary projects in both Mexico and the United States. In 2024, she presented Cruzando Ensueños at the Whitney Museum in New York, a musical monologue centered on migration and the emotional territories of memory.

Her acting work has also expanded into independent cinema, starring in Albatross, a short film selected for the 2026 Sundance Film Festival 2026.

Alongside her theatrical career, she has developed a strong musical trajectory as a mezzo-soprano singer, performing as a soloist in choirs and vocal ensembles, as well as in Latin American music projects.

For more than fifteen years, she has directed La China Sonidera, a musical project rooted in cumbia and popular Latin American sounds, with performances in Mexico, the United States, Belgium, and the United Arab Emirates.

Her artistic work is distinguished by the fusion of theatricality, live music, and an intimate yet powerful stage presence.
